Erich Kästner Museum: Auf einen Sprung nach Rußland - Travelling Micromuseum Exhibition in Omsk eröffnet

Am vergangenen Wochenende eröffnete der Erfinder und Leiter des Erich Kästner Museums, Ruairí O'Brien, gemeinsam mit dem Direktor der Staatlichen Alexander Puschkin Bibliothek in Omsk die internationale Wanderausstellung "Travelling Micromuseum Exhibition". Die umfangreiche Präsentation, die bereits in Tokyo, Salzburg und London zu sehen war, zeigt bis Ende Mai in der sibirischen Metropole Dokumente, Fotos, Bücher und Literaturobjekte rund um den auch in Rußland sehr beliebten Schriftsteller Erich Kästner.


Das Besondere an dieser Ausstellung ist, wie auch im Erich Kästner Museum selbst, die Art der Präsentation. Die Exponate sind in sechs verschiedenen, farblich und thematisch unterschiedlichen flexiblen Modulen untergebracht, die zum Stöbern und Entdecken einladen.

Mit dem Titel „Auf einen Sprung nach Rußland“ nimmt die Ausstellung ganz besonders Bezug zu Erich Kästners Rußlandreise im Jahr 1930 sowie auf seine Rezensionen russischer Autoren und Filme. Viele dieser Rezensionen und Reisedokumente werden erstmals in Rußland gezeigt.

Auf Einladung der Staatlichen Dostojevskij Universität hielt O'Brien museologische Vorträge und Design-Workshops; eine Zusammenarbeit mit dem gleichnamigen Museum wurde aufgenommen.

Das gesamte Projekt konnte in Zusammenarbeit zwischen dem Erich Kästner Museum Dresden, den Goethe Instituten Novosibirsk und Moskau sowie dem DAAD Büro in Omsk realisiert werden und findet im Rahmen des Deutschlandjahres in Rußland statt.

The Travelling micromuseum Exhibition, short TME, is a twin version of our micromuseum for Erich Kaestner based in the Villa Augustin in Dresden, Germany.
This travelling exhibition is a further expression of the idea that museums today are no longer confined to activities within their own four walls. It is an expression of the "mobility" of man and his thoughts, of the expansion of intellectual and architectural space into the unending space of man's imagination. The twin is also a quotation of Erich Kaestners own work, the translation of literature into architecture. In his children’s book "Doppelte Lottchen" Kaestner works on the idea of the seductive power of twins, using their combined skills and capabilities to solve a difficult problem. Our micromuseum for Erich Kaestner is strengthened in its task to inform the world of Kaestners work and virtues as a multi talented media man. The intellectual flexibility and mobility of thought that Kaestner demonstrated in his much faceted work is reflected in the architecture of the museum at "home" in Dresden and developed further in its travelling twin, slowly moving through the cities of the world. Erich Kaestner is translated into over 60 languages; our travelling micromuseum can thus help us to reach his readers on a very personal level. As part of our concept to keep Kaestner's spirit alive and transport the ideals of his work we take with us on our travels writers living and working in Dresden, their work is part of the exhibition and is the museum of literature for tomorrow. Accompanying the exhibition we organise with the partners abroad a cultural program which can entail, lectures, workshops with children, readings with writers from Dresden, film or theatre performances. It is also part of our vision to expand and enhance the exhibition with the work of local writers whom we invite to read during the exhibition and document this event for future generations.
